Houseguests and holidays go hand in hand. While
things can become a bit crowded when overnight
guests are in your home, you can still keep everyone happy if you do a little planning before guests
arrive. Follow these simple tips to help make your
guests feel at home and to keep yourself less
stressed.
Bedroom - Give guests added privacy even if
multiple people are sleeping in each bedroom. The
addition of an inexpensive, freestanding screen
provides a concealed space for changing or acts as
an excellent room divider when using cots. Will you
have guests sleeping in the living room? Position your
sofa as a room divider for the same effect. Putting
flannel sheets on the bed is sure to give your guests
a good night's sleep that is toasty warm. You can
also purchase affordable, rollaway clothes racks if
your bedrooms lack enough closet space.
Bathroom - Mornings can be crowded and
stressful when you have lots of people in the house.
Ease the tension with some clever, yet inexpensive,
additions. Place suction hooks on bathroom walls for
each guest's towel, washcloth or robe. Label and
decorate low-cost drinking glasses for bathroom use
and create color-coordinated toothbrush holder and
soap holder sets to keep each person's hygiene items
separate. If you're planning to give holiday gifts, you
can purchase monogrammed, plush robe and slipper
sets for Aunt Betty and Uncle Ben. Placing a wicker
basket for guest towels and a bag for dirty clothes
will also help with keeping bathroom use organized.
When using these ideas, you'll alleviate much of your
stress and be a wonderfully gracious hostess who
makes her guests feel right at home!
